Stockton Civic Theatre, as a special two-week fundraising event, presents The Subject is Love, an original musical revue dealing with the many facets of love–from longing to heartache, excitement to bitterness and everything in between. The show is composed of music ranging from standards like “Send in the Clowns” and “The Man That Got Away” to modern musical theatre masterpieces sure to be standards themselves one day. Audiences will enjoy the wry wit and wisdom of songwriting masters like Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim and the soaring melodies of Broadway composers like Jerry Herman and Jason Robert Brown. There is even a little Queen mixed in for good measure. As an added bonus, sprinkled throughout the evening are the keen (and often hilarious) observations about love shared by a slew of celebrities including Albert Einstein, Dr. Seuss and Dolly Parton. The production is Conceived and Directed by Dennis Beasley with Musical Direction by Joshua Landin and promises to thoroughly entertain.
