STOCKTON CIVIC THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2011–2012 WILLIE AWARD NOMINEES

STOCKTON, CA: Stock­ton Civic The­atre has announced the nom­i­nees for the 2011–2012 season’s Willie Award Pre­sen­ta­tions, sched­uled for Sun­day, August 12, with cock­tails at 6 p.m. and awards cer­e­mony at 7 p.m.

The Willie Awards, named tongue-in-cheek after William Shake­speare, were founded in 1953 as a means of hon­or­ing the pro­duc­ers, per­form­ers and tech­ni­cians for SCT shows dur­ing the sea­son. The pro­gram, directed by James Reed, will fea­ture per­for­mances by the theatre’s actors in open­ing and clos­ing num­bers and between pre­sen­ta­tions of awards. The theme is “The Willies Go to the Movies.”

Out­stand­ing achieve­ment will be rec­og­nized for the season’s six shows: “For­ever Plaid,” “Hair­spray,” “Dearly Beloved,” “I Do! I Do!,” “On Golden Pond,” and “Sweeney Todd.” The cat­e­gories and nom­i­nees are:
