An Evening of 10 Minute Plays

Stockton Civic Theatre is excited to announce an Evening of 10 Minute Plays!
A wonderful evening of theatre is in store for this production featuring several ten minute plays, specially curated for the Pam Kitto Black Box Theatre.

Time: 6:30pm
Audition Sides will be provided at the auditions.

Show & Character Breakdown
The Audience by Bruce Kane directed by Shawn Carrington
3 couples and a very chatty audience member attend a play unaware of what is about to be performed on stage.
DAN- Would rather be watching sports than be at the theatre. Unhappy that his wife dragged him there.
FRAN- Dan’s wife. Loves theatre because there are no commercials
TED- Another audience member who would rather be anywhere but at the theater
LIZ- Ted’s wife who got their tickets from a friend.
HELEN- Audience member who spends practically the entire play on the telephone.
YOUNG COUPLE- (no lines but definitely involved) Spends the entire show making out.
HOUSE MANAGER- (could be off stage voice or cast to do pre show message and may have an additional line)
Only the young couple needs to be “young” the other couples and Helen can be any age.
REMINISCENCE by Rob Chase directed by Rob Chase
Marie and Alan, an older couple, are facing a tragedy. With humor and fond memories, Alan strives to create a few moments of happiness for he and Marie in this bittersweet story.
Marie and Alan, a couple in their 40s-70s.
I Do, You Die by Carrie McCrossen directed by Rhonda Cummings
A two-person comedy where we watch a married couple’s silly argument turn into a fight to the death!

They can be any age… but must be similar in age to each other.
Traces of Memory by Ann Wuehler directed by James Kusy
Traces of Memory finds two women, Phoebe and Ruth, contesting a bit of the loneliest highway in America. Both have past they are seeking to escape as they collide in this dramatic comedy.
Phoebe (female presenting, late 20’s or older) On the run from the law with nowhere to go.
Ruth (female presenting, mid 30s or older) Traditional wife/mother who has had enough.
Love and Peace, Mary Jo by James Nicholson directed by Gianna Landin
This play follows a correspondence of letters between a young teacher and a leukemia patient as the disease takes over.
MARY JO – late 20’s, has leukemia
PAUL – late 20’s, teacher, Mary Jo’s pen pal
Battle of Bull Run Always Makes Me Cry by Carole Real directed by Jessica Spencer
Donna: mid 20s- late 30s, single, successful, lonely, funny
Linda: mid 20s- late 30s, Donna’s friend, married with a toddler.
Amy: mid 20s- late 30s, Donna’s friend, also married, practical.
Patrick: mid 20s- early 40s, single,
well-dressed, attractive.

A struggling playwright is trying to write a Ten Minute play when her Muse shows up to try and provide inspiration.
Samantha – Female (25+) Playwright with writer’s block tired and frustrated after a long day of trying to write a ten minute play.
Sam – Male (25+) Samantha’s muse in physical form trying his best to provide inspiration

A somewhat cranky, energetic and feisty mother and her drab, unadventurous and responsible son
come to a moderately humorous yet slightly sobering understanding regarding their situations, positions, and roles in Life. Well, maybe…somewhat…?

Gray Matter by Jeanette D. Farr directed by Bill Yee
Grey Matter is a story about race relations and stereotyping. A young African-American male confronts an elderly white woman in a police station with regard to her apparent racial profiling.
Marge – 66 years old. Well-dressed, middle-class, white woman.
Russell – 21 years old. African-American male. Wears baggy clothes and a baseball cap

When fourth-grade teacher Sandra is called on the carpet by old friend and Assistant Principal Valerie for breaking protocol in an active shooter drill, they must decide how they can save both their friendship and their students.
