Who Picks These Shows, Anyway?
The Stockton Civic Theatre Artistic Committee is a group of 7 dedicated community members who volunteer their time to read plays and musicals being considered for the SCT Main Stage season. Each month from January-September they meet to discuss what shows would be the best fit for SCT audiences. By October, the new season is presented to the Board of Directors and it is announced to the public around the end of the year. Many factors must be taken into account when selecting shows for a season, including content, popularity, artistic merit, and creating a balance within the season so that there is something for all patrons to enjoy. The Artistic Committee Chairperson and the Artistic Director also assist the Artistic Committee as non-voting members.
